“Often things happen in life that can’t be anticipated. I believe that with a respectful, caring and practical approach, positive outcomes can be achieved in even the most difficult of circumstances. For me a relationship should be built on trust. On a personal level, I pride myself on being approachable, on being a careful listener and being someone who can provide ideas and solutions to help make my Clients better off.”
Originally from a rural background, Kate spent her early years in South Canterbury – a district where her family still farm today. Kate graduated from Canterbury University with her Bachelor of Laws in 1989 and then spent time working for Lane Neave before travelling overseas for several years. Upon her return, Kate was actively involved in community groups within the Redcliffs and Sumner Areas. Kate has been with Perpetual since 2008 and during this time has relished the opportunity to become involved in personal trust administration.
In addition to her duties as Trust Consultant, Kate is also on the Charitable Trust side of the business and finds this work particularly rewarding given the tangible impact these trusts have upon the local communities and also more widely across the province. Benefits from these trusts are far reaching and diverse. Providing sponsorship to the arts, historic sites, services to the elderly, youth and disadvantaged. Kate is keen to see this service grow and she prides herself on her approachability and her professionalism. “I thoroughly enjoy the Charitable Trust aspect of my role. Seeing the benefits of this work reach far and wide across the community makes this area of what we do particularly rewarding.”
Outside of work Kate enjoys multisport and has competed in a number of events across the South Island over the past 10 years. Sharing activities with her two teenage sons is also a priority and they enjoy family adventures together through camping, skiing and tramping. Whether it’s being on the tracks of the Port Hills, cycling through the city streets, or kayaking in the estuary, Kate takes full advantage of the fabulous opportunities Christchurch presents to be outdoors and keep fit.
