The purpose of the Trust is to assist post graduate medical students to study at Edinburgh University in Scotland.
Background
David James Cummings died in Blenheim on 12 June 1980 leaving a substantial gift to this trust. He retired to Blenheim in his seventies after farming his family’s high country station “Glen Orkney” in the Awatere Valley in Marlborough. He never married and gifted his estate to improve the standards of New Zealand medical practitioners.
Medical Scholarship
The David Cummings Medical Trust offers medical scholarships to promote and encourage post graduate medical studies at Edinburgh University in Scotland. The scholarship is known as “David Cummings Medical Scholarship” and is available to graduate medical practitioners resident or domiciled in New Zealand.
